TEIN NDC GCTU Swears in New Executives to Lead Chapter
The Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has sworn in a new set of 12 executives to lead the chapter.
The ceremony took place on Friday, March 27, 2026, and also served as a general meeting for members. It featured an orientation session led by experienced party executives and government appointees, many of whom once served in TEIN.
The event included a symbolic handover from the outgoing leaders to the newly elected team. The Greater Accra Regional TEIN Coordinator, Abubakari Muhammed, administered the oath of office and secrecy.
In his address, Mr. Muhammed urged the new executives to work hard to secure victory for the NDC in constituencies within tertiary institutions, building on the success of the 2024 general elections. He encouraged members to remain focused on their studies while also taking advantage of opportunities such as scholarships and government programmes.
“Take your academic work seriously,” he advised, adding that committed members could benefit from national service placements in reputable organisations.
The newly sworn-in TEIN President of GCTU, Peter Ofori Yeboah, outlined some early achievements of his leadership. He revealed that since assuming office in November, the chapter has secured internship placements for 56 members at the Ghana Police Headquarters, including positions in the Cyber Crime Unit and IT Department.
He also announced upcoming activities, including an industrial visit to Parliament House to engage with the Majority Caucus. Mr. Ofori Yeboah called on members to actively support the new leadership and participate in all planned programmes.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Christian Tetteh Badger, who attended the event, shared his experience of over three decades with the NDC. He encouraged the student leaders to respect authority and remain disciplined in their conduct.
He further cautioned against the desire for quick wealth and advised members to avoid actions that could create division. Instead, he urged them to stay united and focused on both their academic and political journeys.
The new executives have been tasked with building on the work of their predecessors while promoting unity, academic excellence, and active political engagement among students on campus.
