The New Generation Party (NGP) has officially unveiled its national manifesto, outlining a broad plan to reshape Ghana’s economy and improve the lives of citizens.
The announcement was made at a press conference held on Friday, 3rd April,2026 at the UNIMAC-IJ Auditorium, where party leaders presented their vision for a country that works for every Ghanaian.
A Plan to Fix the Economy
At the heart of the manifesto is a strong focus on economic recovery and discipline. The NGP says it will cap the fiscal deficit at 5% of GDP and reduce the national debt to below 60% within four years.
The party also pledged to cut wasteful spending and strengthen the fight against corruption by giving more power to independent institutions like the Auditor-General and the Special Prosecutor.
According to the leadership, a more independent Bank of Ghana and a transparent monetary system will help stabilize the economy and support industrial growth.
Jobs and Opportunities for the Youth
Addressing unemployment, the NGP introduced a “2 million jobs” program aimed at engaging young people in infrastructure projects across all districts.
In addition, a proposed 10 billion Ghana cedi entrepreneurship fund will support small businesses and help young people start and grow their own ventures. The party also plans to expand vocational and digital skills training to prepare the youth for modern job opportunities.
Improving Healthcare
The party outlined plans to strengthen the healthcare system by reforming the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). This includes protecting its funds, digitizing claims, and completing stalled hospital projects.
The NGP also intends to invest in local pharmaceutical production to ensure a steady supply of medicines.
Changes in Education
On education, the party promised to improve quality at both basic and secondary levels. This will include expanding infrastructure, improving teacher training, and updating the curriculum to focus more on practical skills and problem-solving.
Technical and vocational education will also receive more attention to better prepare students for the job market.
Fight Against Illegal Mining
The NGP says it will take a firm stance against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey. Plans include introducing a digital licensing system, regulating mining activities, and enforcing laws through an independent authority.
The party also pledged to restore degraded lands, rivers, and forests across the country.
Infrastructure and Development
The manifesto highlights the completion of stalled projects, improved road networks, and better access to water and sanitation. These efforts, the party says, will not only improve living conditions but also create jobs and boost economic activity.
Women, Tourism and Sports
The NGP also introduced the “She Builds Ghana” policy, aimed at supporting women through funding, training, and better market opportunities.
Tourism is expected to be boosted through improved branding, upgraded heritage sites, and better transport infrastructure.
In sports, the party plans to invest in school programs and build regional sports centers to help develop talent and create opportunities.
A Vision for Ghana
The NGP says its manifesto is a practical roadmap to build a stronger and more inclusive Ghana. The party believes its policies, if implemented, will bring real change to the economy and improve the daily lives of citizens.
The press conference ended with a call for national support as the party positions itself as a new force for development and transformation in Ghana.
