Western Regional executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), together with constituency chairpersons across the region, have picked nomination forms at the party’s headquarters in Accra for the immediate past Western Regional Treasurer, Hon. Horma Miezah, ahead of the party’s upcoming national elections.
Hon. Horma Miezah is contesting for the position of First National Vice Chairperson in the NPP national elections scheduled for October 3, 2026.
The regional executives, led by Western Regional Chairman-elect Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa and Secretary-elect Kwasi Bonzo, have declared their full support for her candidature, saying they believe she has the experience and capacity to represent the Western Region at the national level.
Hon. Horma Miezah served as Western Regional Treasurer of the NPP on two occasions and also previously served as Deputy Director-General of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA).
According to the regional executives, her long experience in the party and public service makes her a strong candidate for the national position.
The executives also noted that Hon. Horma Miezah is currently the only candidate from the Western Region seeking a position at the national level, making her candidature one that deserves the collective support of the region.
Speaking before the submission of GH¢30,000 towards the purchase of the nomination forms, Western Regional Secretary-elect Kwasi Bonzo said the regional executives and constituency chairpersons had come together to demonstrate their support for Hon. Horma Miezah.
“All the Western Regional executives, together with all the constituency chairpersons, are present here to purchase nomination forms for our immediate past Western Regional Treasurer, Hon. Horma Miezah, who is contesting for the position of National Vice Chairperson. We all support her to win the position for the Western Region,” he said.
Western Regional Chairman-elect Ignatius Kwasi Afrifa also stressed the importance of having a representative of the Western Region at the national decision-making table.
He said the regional executives were determined to support one of their own and expressed confidence in Hon. Horma Miezah’s experience and ability to deliver.
“Hon. Horma is one of us, and we are showing her support. They say the best comes from the West. Nobody should stand in our way. We are here to show support to one of our own, and we are going all the way with her. We know her capacity, her experience, and everything. We need to be at that table, and Horma is the person we are bringing,” he said.
The move marks a strong show of unity among the Western Regional leadership and constituency chairpersons as they rally behind Hon. Horma Miezah ahead of the NPP’s national elections.
The regional executives are hopeful that delegates will support her bid and help the Western Region secure a strong voice at the national level.
They also believe that bringing the party together at all levels will strengthen the NPP as it works towards securing victory in the 2028 general elections.
