Government Partners Sentuo Group to Boost Cashew Processing, Fertilizer Production and Farmer Support

The Government of Ghana has taken a major step to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector through new agreements with Sentuo Group Limited.

The partnership focuses on three key areas: cashew processing, fertilizer production, and the construction of farmer service centres across the country.

Cashew Processing to Create Jobs

As part of the agreement, a modern cashew processing plant will be established in Sampa in the Bono Region, an area known for cashew production.

For many years, Ghana has been exporting raw cashew nuts, which brings less income and creates limited jobs. The new plant will allow the country to process cashew locally before export.

In addition, the project will also make use of the cashew apple, which is often thrown away. The apple will be processed into beverages, giving farmers another source of income.

With this development, farmers will be able to sell both cashew nuts and cashew apples, improving their earnings.

Fertilizer Production in Ghana

The second agreement focuses on setting up a fertilizer manufacturing plant in Ghana. Currently, the country depends heavily on imported fertilizer, which is often affected by global price changes.

With local production, Ghana aims to ensure a steady supply of fertilizer for farmers while reducing reliance on imports. The plan also includes exporting fertilizer to neighboring countries.

Officials say this will help make farming more productive and support food security.

Farmer Service Centres

The third part of the partnership involves the construction of 30 farmer service centres across the country. These centres will provide farmers with access to important services, including inputs, training, and support.

The initiative follows the earlier launch of a farmer service centre in Afram Plains by President John Dramani Mahama.

Moving Towards Value Addition

Government says these projects are part of a bigger plan to move Ghana away from exporting raw materials to processing and adding value locally.

By focusing on processing and manufacturing, the country hopes to create more jobs, increase income for farmers, and build a stronger agricultural economy.

Officials believe the partnership with Sentuo Group will help lay a solid foundation for long-term growth and development in the sector.
